As is shown in the picture above, two tourists are sitting on a sightseeing boat, throwing rubbish into the river casually, which has already been littered with a great deal of waste. Regrettably, such a scenic spot is ruined by the tourists’ behavior.
The purpose of the picture is to remind us that many tourist resorts are facing great challenge due to people’s lack of awareness of environment protection. It’s not difficult to find in many tourist attractions now that when enjoying the scenery, a considerable number of tourists forget the importance of environment protection and spoil the beauty of scenic spot by their casualness and misdeeds. Undoubtedly, such behavior, like what the two tourists do in the picture, will cause serious consequences. In the first place, there is no doubt that lack of environment protection awareness will destroy the ecosystem of tourist resorts, with the result that our descendants may be deprived of the opportunities of enjoying the pleasure of travelling and be left with a legacy of pollution. In the second place, the environment protection awareness is a mirror of a nation’s degree of civilization, and people’s deed is a reflection of a nation’s level of morality. So, a climate of immorality will be established if we let the worrying situation go unchallenged.
In my opinion, we should get moving to stop the disturbing trend and raise people’s standard of morality. However, to retrieve the worrisome situation entails our government’s legal measures against the misdeeds, our media’s publicity of the concept of environment protection and everyone’s endeavor. Accordingly, we should bear in mind that only when everyone establish the notion environment protection can we make the tourist resorts more beautiful.
2010文化融合
As is shown in the picture above, a hot pot is boiling. However, unlike the traditional hot pot, in which you may see mutton, bean curd and various vegetables, this cultural hot pot contains a variety of cultural elements as its ingredients, such as Kong Fu, Confucianism, Shakespeare and Swan Lake, which make the hot pot both delicious and nutritious.
Clearly, the picture gives us the answer to the questions of how we should treat the foreign cultures and how we can build our national culture in the context of globalization spurred by the advancement of technology and the open-door policy adopted by many countries. That’s to say, rather than dismissing foreign cultures as harmful or worthless, we should integrate the essences of global cultures into Chinese traditional culture. Undoubtedly, it’s an effective way to promote our culture development, and a reasonable notion we should take now.
In my opinion, culture blending is extremely vital to ensuring a country’s development of culture. However, seeing that there are still many people in our society holding that foreign cultures may undermine the integrity and independence of Chinese native culture, the implementation of this notion needs our government’s promotion and the media’s popularization. Accordingly, we should bear in mind that only when everyone knows how to appreciate and respect the global cultures can we build our own culture successfully.
2009網絡利弊
As is shown in the picture above, innumerable people are sitting in their isolated rooms, surfing on the Internet. It seems that the Internet has connected people together, because they can chat with other people all over the world, but upon closer observation, we can learn from the picture that people have been separated from each other effectively, because the walls between them restrict them to their own world.
The connotation of the picture is to remind us that while the Internet has brought a great deal of convenience and proficiency to us, it also acts as a barrier, prohibiting the face-to-face communication. Undoubtedly, the Internet has its minus and pluses, and it’s necessary to analyze its influences on our life. On the one hand, the modern technology represented by the internet does have its advantages, such as online shopping, online chatting, and online news, all of which enable us to obtain what we want without travelling thousands of miles, and shorten the distance between people. On the other hand, the dramatic technological changes that have provided us with more communication opportunities have also increased the risk that we will be more alienated from our relatives and friends. The people in the picture may feel lonely after a long time of Internet life.
From the analysis above, we can come to the conclusion that we should treat the Internet with a reasonable attitude and use it in a proper way. While we enjoy the benefits provided by the Internet, we should not forget that the virtual net world cannot be a substitute for the real world. And we should cherish the intimacy of the face-to-face communication. Only in this way can we have a wholesome life.

The picture above presents to us a scene that after bonded with each other together, the two crippled men drop their sticks and consequently have the ability to go anywhere. From another perspective, if they choose to do something separately and respectively, failure, undoubtedly, is the only destiny they will face.
The purpose of the picture is to remind us that cooperation is a priceless fortune not only for the two crippled persons in the picture, but also for everyone of us. In the first place, coinciding with the increasing development of the society, the structure of our society is more complex than that of before, and as a result, the works of all walks of life become more and more complicated and sticky. So it is difficult to see how a person, who does not cooperate with others, can obtain success in his sphere. In the second place, cooperation, which means unity and union in a sense, contributes to a harmonious society.
From the analyses above, it’s no exaggeration to say that both our achievements of causes and our county’s prosperity would disappear if we forgot the value of cooperation. Thus what’s the most important is that everyone should establish a notion of cooperation, because a cooperative sense can guide people’s behavior to build a bright future.
2005老人問題
The picture above presents to us a scene that the aged father has been kicked out by his eldest son in a football match, crouching in the middle of the football court, with his four offspring defending their goals in the four corners of the football field to prevent him from entering.
Clearly, the picture reflects a worrying and noteworthy phenomenon that our development of society has been accompanied by a corresponding virtue decline. To be specific, many old persons are rejected and maltreated by his or her sons and daughters, leading such a miserable life. There is no denying the fact that the tremendous pressure and the increasing tempo of life in modern city make some people feel that their parents are burdens, but it’s the moral decline that leads the four persons in the picture to shirk their responsibility to look after their father and even mistreat him.
Undoubtedly, living pressure and busy work cannot be used as excuses for evading the duty of offering psychological and financial support to our parents, and we should get moving to reverse the disturbing trend and to raise the standard of people’s morality. In addition to the government’s legal measures and media’s publicity, what’s the most important is that school education should help people from childhood establish the notion of respecting the old. Only in this way can we ensure a better life for the elderly.
2004渴望
The picture above presents to us a scene that a boy, who is sweating heavily, is dashing toward the finishing line. It seems that he will be the winner of the race, yet the caption below reminds us that he must go on striving because the finishing line is a starting line.
The connotation implicit in the picture proposes to tell us that facing the success, we should not abandon ourselves in the joy and excitement, which will be history soon, but to focus on the future for another success. In other words, persistent thirst for more successes is indispensable for us to obtain a series of achievements. On the one hand, the thirst for more successes means a powerful motive force, which could drive us to seek something valuable in our lives. On the other hand, the lack of enough impetus is the cradle of resignation, and it’s difficult to see how a person, who lacks enough impetus, could obtain what he or she wishes in such a fiercely competitive society. Accordingly, what I have stated above could sufficiently testify that the persistent thirst for more successes plays a key role in one’s cause.
To exemplify such a relatively abstract principle, let’s take George Best, a famous football player of England, as an example. Best was the best player in 1960s, but the star suddenly fell when he became immersed in his past achievement and prestige and addicted to alcohol. So, we can conclude that persistent thirst is the passport to a perpetual success.
2000生態(tài)環(huán)境
The two pictures above show a brief history of world commercial fishing to us. In the first picture, a fishing ship is sailing in the sea, where is abundant in various kinds of fishes in 1900. By contrast, innumerable ships are seeking fishes in 1995, but there is only one fish in the sea. We can learn from the pictures that with the rapid social and economic development, the number of fishes has sharply decreased.
Clearly, the two pictures reveal a noteworthy trend that the quick development of world economy has been accompanied by a corresponding destruction of environment and ecosystem. The reasons may be as follows. On the one hand, the unreasonable principle that the development of our economy is our only object leads us to overlook the significance of environmental protection. On the other hand, the progress of modern technology that enables us to exploit more nature resource aggravates the worrying situation.
Undoubtedly, we should reverse the disturbing trend because our achievement in economy may be offset by the destruction of environment and ecosystem. More and more adverse examples all over the world can sufficiently testify that without a good environment, the economy can’t develop sustainably.
In my opinion, the new development mode proposed by our government that we should pay due attention to environment protection while developing our economy is desirable, but the comprehensive implementation of that notion needs our joint efforts. Accordingly, we should bear in mind that the harsh reality warrants our prompt attention, and the effectual measures guarantee a bright future.
科技進步與交通堵塞
The picture above is trying to arouse our consideration about the role of the automobile over time by posing a striking contrast. More than one century ago, having seen the invention of the modern transportation, the two men could not help giving the shout “with this, we can go wherever we want!” However, the traffic congestion is so heavy now that the drivers in the cars are dozing off when trapped in this “disaster”.
What the painter purposes to tell us is that while the rapid development of economy and technology enables us to enjoy the advantages of modern vehicles, it also leads to heavy traffic jam, a serious problem that has preoccupied many metropolises and caused many inconveniences to us. Undoubtedly, the heavy traffic congestion not only wastes people’s time and energy, but also affects residents’ normal life, not to mention the exhaust fumes that exacerbate air pollution and endanger people’s health.
In my opinion, the city that can provide us with happiness and comfort is the city that can ensure good traffic condition, and it’s imperative for us to get moving to reduce the frequency of traffic congestion. As we all know, people’s shift from the private cars to public transportation is the most effective means to ease the troublesome situation, but the comprehensive implementation of this idea entails our government’s endeavor to improve related facilities and reduce the cost of bus and subway. Accordingly, we should bear in mind that the quality of life in cities can be improved only when the traffic jam is relieved.
(There is no denying the fact that the vehicle, as the representative of modern technologies, does bring convenience and efficiency to us, which could facilitate our life and work. But the dramatic technological advancements that have already provided us with speed and comfort have also increased the risk that we may be submerged in the “car sea”, suffering the polluted air.)
樂觀
As is shown in the picture, a man is hesitating about attempting his first step, because he finds that the path to success is so rugged and arduous that he may face many formidable tasks and a variety of impossible mission. It seems that success is too remote for him to achieve, yet a ladder named optimism laid on the road reminds us that he can conquer the difficulties in the way if he take advantage of it.
What the painter proposes to tell us is that since the road to success is bound to be bumpy and full of inevitable setbacks, we should be optimistic and mentally prepared to confront the obstacles on the road. In other words, optimism plays a key role in our life. However, it’s not difficult to find that there are two strikingly different attitudes toward the life and toward the pathway to success now. Some people, like the man in the picture, are pessimistic about the way to success and exaggerate the difficulties. Undoubtedly, this sort of outlook on life will result in either resignation or depression, prohibiting personal improvement and progress. On the contrary, there is no doubt that those people who take a sanguine view about the prospect and life will reap the harvest at last.
In my opinion, an optimistic outlook is of utmost importance for us in today’s society which could be characterized by fierce competition, enormous pressure and busy life style. It will not only help us achieve success, but will also bring a fulfilling life to us. Accordingly, we should bear in mind that optimism is the passport to success and happiness, and a bright future will be on the horizon if we keep optimistic in the face of difficulties in our life.
人生目的
As is shown in the first picture, a smartly-dressed boy is showing off to his classmate by saying that his father has given him 100 Yuan as pocket money. However, he is struck dumb when his shabbily-dressed classmate proudly announces that he has got full marks in an examination, which will be given to his father as a gift. Undoubtedly, anyone who pays attention to this dialogue will draw a moral from the pictures.
Clearly, the purpose of the picture is to arouse our reflection on the question of what should be our aim or objective of our life in today’s society fueled by money and power. However, it’s not difficult to find that there are two strikingly different viewpoints on the life goal in our society now. Some people, like the arrogant boy in the picture, regard large fortune and dazzling appearance as the signs of success and hold the opinion that accumulating wealth is the ultimate object in life. On the contrary, others hold that a person’s value is measured by his achievements and contributions rather than his material wealth. Undoubtedly, those who have this kind of outlook on life will not only lead a fulfilling life, but also contribute to development of our society.
In my opinion, an outstanding life is based on right outlook on life and right object of life. So, school education should bear the accountability to help the young generation shape a right outlook and establish a proper object. We should bear in mind that only in this way can we have a good life.
(The two pictures above are trying to arouse our consideration about the aim in life by posing an interesting contrast.)
幸福與金錢
The picture above tries to arouse our consideration about the relationship between wealth and happiness. In the first picture, a man is standing at the summit of a mountain named high salary; in the second picture, a magnate is imprisoned in a diamond cage. It seems that after accumulating a large fortune, they are both left at a loss.
The picture reflects a social trend that in today’s society fueled by money and power, many people tend to equate money with happiness. Under such circumstances, it’s of great importance to explore the relationship between wealth and happiness. In the first place, we are living in a world where the idea that one can lead a good life without money is an illusion. So, to correlate the wealth and happiness is justified in a sense. In the second place, the equation of the money and happiness is dangerous, because this notion may not only lead us to forget many elements necessary to constitute a happy life, such as love, friendship, health, family and so on, but may also result in bad habits, such as drug-taking and gambling.
In my opinion, we should never base our happiness on money, and should understand the definition of happiness. Rather than identifying money and happiness, we should regard happiness as a process in which we conquer hardship, we share joy with our friend, we enjoy the progress we achieve after an arduous journey, and at last, we gain mental satisfaction that cannot be purchased. Accordingly, we should bear in mind that only when we know what happiness is can we not only get joy, but also have a better life.
(Undoubtedly, this view is questionable, and it’s necessary to analyse the consequences if we establish this equation.)
(Happiness is more than joy without striving. Rather than equating the happiness with money, we should enjoy the process in which we obtain success, even if there are many difficulties in the way. Only when we know what happiness is and how we can lead a good life can we not only get happiness, but also have a better life.)
讀書
As is shown in the picture, a candle with a book in hand is beaming brightly. On the face of it, it is a common cartoon because all candles radiate light after ignited, but the caption in the picture reminds us that it’s the knowledge learned from the book that makes the candle smile and shine.
Clearly, the purpose of the picture is to show us the importance and benefit of reading, and to call on us to read more books. Undoubtedly, via reading, we can not only learn what mankind has achieved, but can also be greatly inspired to develop and innovate on the basis of existing knowledge, not to mention the encouragement and enlightenment provided by books which can be our guide in life. However, in today’s society fueled by money and power, many people dismiss reading classics and literature as useless or outdated, and take the accumulating money as their primary objective of life. However, those people holding this opinion will unavoidably miss much enjoyment, and their development may be hindered by their lack of knowledge.
In my opinion, a fulfilling life is based on extensive knowledge, and knowledge can be derived only when we are devoted to reading. So, what’s the most important is that teachers, parents and media should join their efforts to help children recognize the importance of reading. We should bear in mind that only when reading becomes a habit shared by all of us can we have a bright future, and can we have a fulfilling life.
(The importance of reading can be proven in the academic field, where new discoveries depend on researchers’ knowledge reserve and reading extent. A prime example to support my point is Max Horkheimer, a famous sociologist and philosopher last century. It’s inconceivable that he could write Culture Industry, a classic in which he criticizes the capitalist culture, without reading extensively. So, it’s my view that reading is of the utmost importance for people’s development.)
創(chuàng)新
The picture above presents to us a scene that may arouse our memory of childhood. As is shown in the picture, many pupils are watching TV news about the successful launch of Shenzhou-VIII, which is regarded as the symbol of our national strength and scientific competency. However, the teacher sitting beside them remarks that this brilliant feat is attributed to the innovative ability of our nation.
Clearly, the purpose of the picture is to remind that innovative spirit is of the utmost importance not only for national development, but also for personal progress in the context of globalization and modernization, which lead to fierce competition both among nations and individuals. So, it’s necessary to explore the reasons why we should promote the spirit of innovation. In the first place, we are now living in a world where a nation’s overall strength is based on its innovative ability and technological competency, so it’s inconceivable that any nation can build up a substantial lead in the world without the spirit of innovation. In the second place, innovation is a prerequisite for the success of a company or individual. This truth can be proven by the accomplishment of Microsoft Corporation and Bill Gates, whose fame and asset can be owed to its and his innovation and originality.
However, there is no denying the fact that as an emerging country, our nation’s innovative ability is limited compared with the developed countries, such as America, Japan and Germany. So, how to accelerate our nation’s advancement in the area of technology and innovation is a question which needs to be answered immediately. Obviously, the picture provides us with an effective means-that’s, teachers and parents should bear the accountability to help children establish the notion of innovation. Accordingly, we should bear in mind that only when all of us, especially the children, have the innovative spirit can our nation become prosperous in the future.
(Undoubtedly, the spirit of innovation has its self-evident benefits. With the spirit of innovation, a country can build up a substantial lead in technology and economy, and then advance people’s living standard; with the spirit of innovation, a company can achieve its success, which can be proven by the accomplishment of Microsoft Corporation; with the spirit of innovation, a person can enjoy the competitive edge over his peers, and then realize the value of life.)
誠信
The picture above presents to us a soothing scene that having found that the old lady has paid an extra two Yuan for what she has bought, the shopkeeper rushes out to return it to the elderly woman, even though she is about to leave, neglecting her carelessness. Undoubtedly, everyone who pays attention to this picture will be delighted at the shopkeeper’s good deeds.
What the painter purposes to tell us is that honesty, as a priceless fortune, should be cherished and promoted not only by the businesswoman depicted in the picture, but also by all of us. The importance of honesty lies in the following two aspects. In the first place, with the development of the market economy, honesty becomes the key to market value and a trump to attract consumers. So, it’s difficult to see how a company, which is notorious for its dishonesty, can survive the fierce competition now. In the second place, honesty is a basic principle of human being and a prerequisite for trust. Therefore, it’s inconceivable that anyone, who lacks honesty, can obtain love, friend and respect in daily life.
In my opinion, a harmonious society is based on the sound and mutual-trusting relationships among people, and such relationships depend on our practice of honesty. Accordingly, politicians, media, entrepreneurs and every common people should join their efforts to create a climate of honesty in our society, in which business can prosper and individuals can be friendly to each other. We should bear in mind that only when honesty becomes a habit shared by all of us can we have a better place to live in.
信任危機
The picture above presents to us a scene that after a deal with each other, the woman is examining the money paid by the man in case of fake note, while the man is observing the egg bought from the woman, fearing that it may be artificial. On the face of it, they are both precise persons, but on further consideration, we can learn from the picture that a current social problem is revealed, which deserves our serious contemplation.
The picture reflects a noteworthy trend that in today’s society fueled by money, there is a gradual loss of trust between people. To earn huge profit, many businessmen manufacture and sell a lot of fake goods at the cost of consumers’ interests; for the purpose of improving the ratings, many media peddle sensational stories to attract public attention without any sense of responsibility; in order to gain personal benefit, many advertisers hawk misleading information to lure people to buy inferior products. Driven by personal interests, many people from all works of life are losing their honesty, which will in turn undermine the foundation of trust between us.
In my opinion, trust crisis will not only cause divide between people, but also result in great financial losses of our country. It’s no exaggeration to say that both our friendly personal relationships and our country’s prosperity would disappear if we let the worrisome situation go unchallenged. However, to curb the disturbing situation entails our media’s publicity of honesty, our government’s regulation against dishonesty and everyone’s endeavor. Accordingly, we should bear in mind that only when everyone value the trust can we have a harmonious society.
傳統(tǒng)文化
The picture above presents to us a scene that a boy is dozing off when an actress dressed in Chinese traditional costume is trying to impress her audience by special tone and symbolic gesture, but an old man is absorbed in her performance. On the face of it, the actress’ endeavor is differently received, but on closer observation and further consideration, we can learn from the picture that the contrasting attitudes towards the Chinese drama performance is a miniature of the current situation of Chinese traditional culture.
The picture reflects a noteworthy trend that Chinese traditional culture is facing an unprecedented challenge, because it is losing its appeal for the young generation. Two reasons can be concluded about the phenomenon. In the first place, the fact that more and more foreign cultural products flock into our country, and we are surrounded with varieties of entertainments puts many forms of Chinese traditional culture at the risk that many people may have little use for them. In the second place, all of us, especially the school education and the media, didn’t attach enough importance to the popularization and promotion of Chinese traditional culture, which aggravates the worrying situation.
In my opinion, we must reverse the worrisome trend, because a nation’s traditional culture is spiritual bonds between people, and plays a key role in a nation’s development of society. Many examples all over the world are living proofs that a nation’s traditional culture is a prerequisite for its societal development, so it’s no exaggeration to say that without the traditional culture, we would lose many valuable things that should be preserved and cherished. But the revitalization of our traditional culture needs our joint efforts. I hope we can see our prosperous culture in the near future.
(Seemingly the Chinese traditional culture is in a losing battle with other entertainments and foreign cultural products, but it still has a fighting chance if we join our efforts to retrieve the situation. However, to revitalize our traditional culture entails our media’s popularization, our government’s promotion and everyone’s endeavor. We should bear in mind that only when everyone knows the importance of traditional culture protection can our nation’s culture enjoy prosperity in the future.)
互相幫助
The picture above presents to us a soothing scene that a seriously sick old man is on a young man’s back, who volunteer to send him to the hospital. The young guy is running and sweating, saying that “Grandpa, let me take you to the hospital”. It seems that they are relatives, but the dialogue between them reminds us that they barely know each other before.
The purpose of the picture is to eulogize the practice of selfless offering help to those in need, and to call on us to follow the man’s example. Unfortunately, the reality about the good deeds seems to be a little paradoxical and a bit worrisome. It’s not difficult to find in the TV programmes and newspapers that many people announce that they will render assistance without taking any reward if seeing someone in need. When asked why, they may answer: “it’s an acknowledged virtue that should be preserved.” However, it’s also not difficult to find in today’s society fueled by money and self-interest that many people pursue their fame and wealth in the name of devotion, not to mention the ruthless passers-by who turn a blind eye to Wang Yue, a two-year-old girl who has just suffered a hit-and-run accident. The status quo arouses our puzzlement and worry about the discrepancy between intention and action.
In my opinion, a harmonious society is based on sound and mutual-trusting relationships among common folk, and such relationships depend on our practice of mutual aid. To promote the virtue, what’s the most important is that school education should help children establish a notion of offering favors to each other, and should urge them to put the spirit conveyed in the picture into practice. Accordingly, we should bear in mind that only when mutual aid becomes a habit shared by all Chinese, especially the youngsters, can we have a better place to live in.
(According to a survey conducted by Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, a high proportion of people polled (about 80%) hold the opinion that they will render assistance without taking any reward if seeing someone in need.)
(According to a report of Nan Fang Daily last year, a high proportion of people interviewed (about 80%) hold the opinion that they will render assistance without taking any reward if seeing someone in need.)
壓力
The purpose of the picture is to remind us that stress is an inevitable part in our normal life, and we should regard it as a stepping-stone on the pathway to our success. With the development of the society, works of all walks of life become increasingly complicated and sticky, which brings more and more stress to us. It’s no exaggeration to say that we are living in a world which could be characterized by stress.
However, the reasonable notion we should take under such circumstances is that we are bound to succeed, and the stress may be a powerful motive force. A prime example to support my argument is Liu Xiang. After the failure in Beijing Olympic Games, the stress from all quarters imposed on him is very strong, but he considered the stress as impetus, and achieved success in Guangzhou Asian Games last year. Undoubtedly, the stress played an important role in this process.
From the analyses above, we can conclude that stress is not formidable, and if we deal with it properly, it can even help us seek what we want. Accordingly, what’s the most important is that people should take a peaceful attitude toward the stress, and take advantage of it. Only in this way can we get a healthy life.
