Dear teacher and my dear friends:
I am very pleased to stand here and deliver a short speech to I feel quite lucky to be the first oneto give the speech. Today my topic is about our ronmental problems are becoming more and more serious all over the world. With the development of industry and agriculture, cars make great noise and give off poisonous gas. Trees on the hills have been cut down, and waste water is being poured continuously into rivers. Furthermore, wherever we go today, we can find rubbish carelessly disposed. The whole ecological balance of the earth is changing. The earth is our home and we have the duty to take care of it for ourselves and for our later generations. Sohow to protect the environment?
Initially,We must face the situation that exists and take actions to solve our environmental problems. For instance, new laws must be passed to control industrial pollution, the public must receive the education about the disadvantages of pollution and so on. We hope that all these measures will be effective and bring back a healthful environment.
As for us, as school students, can also join in recycling activities to protect the environment. For example, set up a recycling center beside, which is very useful. It is used to collect the waste paper and plastic bottles. In the high school, our classmates used to throw all of these into the trashbin. At the very beginning of this collecting activity, it was not so warm-welcomed. Later, more and more people were influenced by the others and joined this collecting activity. Gradually, all the students in our class form a good habit to protect the environment. All of us will now put away the reusable things instead of throwing them into the trashcan.
We should always remember in our mind that protecting the environment is our duty that we can never neglect. Finally would you please let me end this speech with a little poem, “Be kind to the river. Be good to the trees. Smile at the sunshine, and bow to the breeze. Be friendly to nature, and nature will be friendly to you!”

Honourable judges, ladies and gentlemen,
Good afternoon! Today I would like to talk about the importance of keeping optimistic. When we encounter difficulties in life, we notice that some of us choose to bury their heads in the sand. Unfortunately, however, this attitude will do you no good, because if you will have no courage even to face them, how can you conquer them? Thus, be optimistic, ladies and gentlemen, as it can give you confidence and help you see yourself through the hard times, just as Winston Churchill once said, “An optimist sees an opportunity in every calamity; a pessimist sees a calamity in every opportunity.”
Ladies and Gentlemen, keeping optimistic, you will be able to realize, in spite of some hardship, there’s always hope waiting for you, which will lead you to the ultimate success. Historically as well as currently, there are too many optimists of this kind to enumerate. You see, Thomas Edison is optimistic; if not, the light of hope in his heart could not illuminate the whole world. Alfred Nobel is optimistic; if not, the explosives and the prestigious Nobel Prize would not have come into being. And Lance Armstrong is also optimistic; if not, the devil of cancer would have devoured his life and the world would not see a 5-time winner of the Tour De France.
A rose may be beautiful, or maybe not; that depends on your attitude only, and so does success, so does life. Hindrances and difficulties do exist, but if you are optimistic, then they are only episodes on your long way to the throne of success; they are more bridges than obstacles! Now I prefer to end my speech with the great British poet Shelley’s lines: “If winter comes, can spring be far behind?” Thank you!

When going down the Tigris and Euphrates rivers many years ago with a party of English travelers I found myself under the direction of an old Arab guide whom we hired up at Baghdad, and I have often thought how that guide resembled our barbers in certain mental characteristics. He thought that it was not only his duty to guide us down those rivers, and do what he was paid for doing, but to entertain us with stories curious and weird, ancient and modern strange, and familiar. Many of them I have forgotten, and I am glad I have, but there is one I shall never forget.
The old guide was leading my camel by its halter along the banks of those ancient rivers, and he told me story after story until I grew weary of his story-telling and ceased to listen. I have never been irritated with that guide when he lost his temper as I ceased listening. But I remember that he took off his Turkish cap and swung it in a circle to get my attention. I could see it through the corner of my eye, but I determined not to look straight at him for fear he would tell another story. But although I am not a woman, I did finally look, and as soon as I did he went right into another story. Said he, “I will tell you a story now which I reserve for my particular friends.” When he emphasized the words “particular friends,” I listened and I have ever been glad I did. I really feel devoutly thankful, that there are 1,674 young men who have been carried through college by this lecture who are also glad that I did listen.
The old guide told me that there once lived not far from the River Indus an ancient Persian by the name of Ali Hafed. He said that Ali Hafed owned a very large farm; that he had orchards, grain-fields, and gardens; that he had money at interest and was a wealthy and contented man. One day there visited that old Persian farmer one of those ancient Buddhist priests, one of the wise men of the East. He sat down by the fire and told the old farmer how this old world of ours was made.?
He said that this world was once a mere bank of fog, and that the Almighty thrust His finger into this bank of fog, and began slowly to move His finger around, increasing the speed until at last He whirled this bank of fog into a solid ball of fire. Then it went rolling through the universe, burning its way through other banks of fog, and condensed the moisture without, until it fell in floods of rain upon its hot surface, and cooled the outward crust. Then the internal fires bursting outward through the crust threw up the mountains and hills, the valleys, the plains and prairies of this wonderful world of ours. If this internal molten mass came bursting out and cooled very quickly, it became granite; less quickly copper, less quickly silver, less quickly gold, and, after gold, diamonds were made. Said the old priest, “A diamond is a congealed drop of sunlight.” Now that is literally scientifically true, that a diamond is an actual deposit of carbon from the sun.
The old priest told Ali Hafed that if he had one diamond the size of his thumb he could purchase the county, and if the had a mine of diamonds he could place his children upon thrones through the influence of their great wealth. Ali Hafed heard all about diamonds, how much they were worth, and went to his bed that night a poor man. He had not lost anything, but he was poor because he was discontented, and discontented because he feared he was poor. He said, “I want a mine of diamonds,” and he lay awake all night. Early in the morning he sought out the priest. I know by experience that a priest is very cross when awakened early in the morning, and when he shook that old priest out of his dreams, Ali Hafed said to him:
"Will you tell me where I find diamonds?”
"Diamonds! What do you want with diamonds?”
“Why, I wish to be immensely rich.”
“Well, then, go along and find them. That is all you have to do; go and find them, and then you have them.”
“But I don’t know where to go.”
“Well, if you will find a river that runs through white sands, between high mountains, in those white sands you will always find diamonds.”
“I don’t believe there is any such river.”
“Oh yes, there are plenty of them. All you have to do is to go and find them, and then you have them.”
Said Ali Hafed, “I will go.”
So he sold his farm, collected his money, left his family in charge of a neighbor, and away he went in search of diamonds. He began his search, very properly to my mind, at the Mountains of the Moon. Afterward he came around into Palestine, then wandered on into Europe, and at last when his money was all spent and he was in rags, wretchedness, and poverty, he stood on the shore of that bay at Barcelona, in Spain, when a great tidal wave came rolling in between the pillars of Hercules, and the poor, afflicted, suffering, dying man could not resist the awful temptation to cast himself into that incoming tide, and he sank beneath its foaming crest, never to rise in this life again.
Then after that old guide had told me that awfully sad story, he stopped the camel I was riding on and went back to fix the baggage that was coming off another camel, and I had an opportunity to muse over his story while he was gone. I remember saying to myself, “Why did he reserve that story for his ‘particular friends’?” There seemed to be no beginning, no middle, no end, nothing to it.?
That was the first story I had ever heard told in my life, and would be the first one I ever read, in which the hero was killed in the first chapter. I had but one chapter of that story, and the hero was dead. When the guide came back and took up the halter of my camel, he went right ahead with the story, into the second chapter, just as though there had been no break.
The man who purchased Ali Hafed’s farm one day led his camel into the garden to drink, and as that camel put its nose into the shallow water of that garden brook, Ali Hafed’s successor noticed a curious flash of light from the white sands of the stream. He pulled out a black stone having an eye of light reflecting all the hues of the rainbow. He took the pebble into the house and put it on the mantel which covers the central fires, and forgot all about it.
A few days later this same old priest came in to visit Ali Hafed’s successor, and the moment he opened that drawing-room door he saw that flash of light on the mantel, and he rushed up to it, and shouted:
“Here is a diamond! Has Ali Hafed returned?”
“Oh no, Ali Hafed has not returned, and that is not a diamond. That is nothing but a stone we found right out here in our own garden.”
“But,” said the priest, “I tell you I know a diamond when I see it. I know positively that is a diamond.”
Then together they rushed out into that old garden and stirred up the white sands with their fingers, and lo! There came up other more beautiful and valuable gems then the first. “Thus,” said the guide to me, “was discovered the diamond-mine of Golconda, the most magnificent diamond-mine in all the history of mankind, excelling the Kimberly itself. The Kohinoor, and the Orloff of the crown jewels of England and Russia, the largest on earth, came from that mine.”
When that old Arab guide told me the second chapter of his story, he then took off his Turkish cap and swung it around in the air again to get my attention to the moral. Those Arab guides have morals to their stories, although they are not always moral. As he swung his hat, he said to me, “Had Ali Hafed remained at home and dug in his own cellar, or underneath his own wheat fields or in his own garden, instead of wretchedness, starvation, and death by suicide in a strange land, he would have had ‘a(chǎn)cres of diamonds.’ For every acre of that old farm, yes, every shovelful, afterward revealed gems which since have decorated the crowns of monarchs.”

Saying goodbye to childhood,we step into another important time in the pace of young, facing new situations, dealing with different problems……
Everyone has his own understanding of young,it is a period of time of beauty and wonders, only after you have experienced the sour ,sweet ,bitter and salty can you really become a person of significance.
The time of young is limited,it may pass by without your attention, and when you discover what has happened ,it is always too ping the young well means a better time is waiting for you in the near future,or the situation may be opposite .
Having a view on these great men in the history of human being, they all made full use of their youth time ,to do things that are useful to society,to the whole mankind, and as a consequence ,they are remembered by later generations, admired by do something in the time of young, although you may not get achievements as these great man did ,though not for the whole word, just for yourself, for those around!
The young is just like blooming flowers, they are so beautiful when blooming, they make people feel happy, but with time passing by,after they withers ,most people think they are ugly.
And so it is the same with young,we are enthusiastic when we are young, then we may lose our passion when getting older and older.
So we must treasure it ,don't let the limited time pass by ,leaving nothing of significance.

Dear teachers:
I’m very glad to say something here. Today, my topic is -----I wish.
Every person has many beautiful dreams, so do I.
I wish that I have a good friend who has magic power like Dora A Dream. He could give me anything which I want, such as Maliang’s paintbrush.
I wish I could use it to help others. Such as I could draw the coats for the poor men when it’s cold, I could draw the food for them when they’re hungry, and I could draw a house for them, too.
I wish that my dream will come true someday.
Thank you.
In China, Spring Festival is one of the most important festivals. It is also getting more and more popular in some foreign countries. When Spring Festival comes, it means that a new year comes, and people grow a year older. During the festival, it is very crowded throughout the country.
On the eve of Spring Festival, parents get food, clothes and Spring Festival's goods prepared. The people who work outside come back, and the whole family gets together to have meals and say goodbye to the last year, and welcome the New Year. After the meal, they wait until midnight comes. They set off fireworks then.
On the first morning of the Spring Festival, everyone wears their new clothes and then go to other's homes to celebrate the New Year. Each family sets off fireworks when their guests come, and they take out sweets and peanuts to share. On the following days, they go around to their relatives and friends. The Spring Festival has several meanings. It means people working outside can come back to relax themselves, a new year begins. When spring comes, farmers begin to plant crops and people make a plan for the New Year.

new beijing, the three-colored new olympics
good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen.
bidding for the olympic games is, in a way, an image-creating undertaking. the first and foremost thing is to let people fall in love with the city at first sight, attracting them by its unique image. what image does beijing intend to create for itself once it has the opportunity to host the 20xx olympics? it is known to all that the beijing municipal government has already set the theme for the future games: new beijing, GREat olympics. for me, the 20xx olympics will be a great green olympics illuminated with two more special colors: yellow and red.
first, yellow is a meaningful color. the yellow river is china’s mother river and the cradle of chinese civilization. we are of the yellow race and descendants of the yellow emperor. this color has a special origin and great significance for the chinese people. beijing is the capital of new china and previously the capital for nine dynasties in chinese history. so, yellow will naturally add splendor to the 20xx games.
secondly, the 20xx olympics will be a red pageant.
red is another traditionally cherished color for the whole country. we adore red. on big occasions, we like to decorate our homes in red. it is the color of double happiness, representing joyous moments, auspiciousness, enthusiasm and prosperity. red is one of the most suitable colors to describe the future of beijing. beijing, together with the whole country, is BEComing more and more prosperous in the process of modernization.
above all, the 20xx olympics will be a green olympics.
adding the green ingredient is essential in creating an appealing image, as we can’t deny the fact that beijing, at the moment, is not as green a city as what we like it to be. striving for an environmentally appealing city has become a central task for all the citizens of beijing. big efforts have been made in pollution control, replanting and beautification of the city.
certainly, all of this is no easy task. but i am sure that all of us have confidence that we will realize these green goals. for now we have the full support and participation of the environmentally conscious citizens. each citizen is showing great concern for every one of the steps the city government takes. as the saying goes, “united, we stand,” and a green beijing will be achieved.
when our aspiration becomes reality, it will be a unique olympics. new beijing, great olympics will be weaved of these three superb colors: yellow, red and green.
let us welcome it and look forward to it! thank you!

Maybe I seem less mature or experiences than my most colleagues. But I still believe age is not important. Compared with age, passion energy and confidence are more significant!
Admittedly, life has its ups and downs, its peaks and valleys. So I encountered certain difficulties in the work. However, I strongly believe the best way to success is to keep your direction and stick to your goal. Direction means objectives. The right direction is like a lamp. This lamp can guide you in darkness and help you overcome obstacles on your way. Otherwise, you will easily get lost or hesitate to go ahead.
I never fear difficulties or failures. Because I believe success is going from failure to failure without losing passion. In fact, the ultimate failure is not trying, for it means you can never make progress toward your goals. As long as you keep trying and go ahead toward your direction, you will succeed and have a bright future. Just remember never give up or lose hope because nothing is too easy. Rainy days will end and the sky will be beautiful again.
In short, everyone should have a direction and keep this direction, no matter what difficulties he or she will encounter.
Finally, I want to take this opportunity to wish you all good health and success in your career.
And you know it is a specially day, which is the Mid-autumn Festival, so I wish you all and your family a happy Mid-autumn Festival.
Thanks so much! That is all!

Agree or not agree: the next twenty years from now on, students will not use printed books any more.
Idon't think so. printed books won't be abandoned in such a short time. I admit that new technology is developing fast. Many advanced electronic products are gradually take the place of traditional tools. Just like in university, teachers like to use multimedia in class for it is quite convenient and efficient. However, for our student, it is not realistic to study completely by electronic products. There are many things need to recorded on books. Books are something meaningful and practical. I should say, in our country, printed books wouldn't be abandoned within 20 years at least for two reasons. Firstly, books are classical container of knowledge.
They accompany human to advance. A student without books could be someway ridiculous. Secondly, our country haven't developed so strong to make every student study by computer or other forms of electronic tools. And even after 20 years, the possibility is also very small. I also think it is unnecessary because books are cheap but useful and still meaningful.
