On the telephone, I told her that I missed her very much. And I invited her to have a cup of coffee with me in a coffeehouse near her home. But to my surprise, she declined and said that she had to devote all her time to her studies. Hearing this, I could do nothing but hang up after saying “Sorry” to her. Disappointed and discouraged, I turned back to my desk and reluctantly buried myself again in my books.

一次上英語課，老師和我們進行了課前鞏固。優(yōu)美的語言和標(biāo)準(zhǔn)的'發(fā)音無一不令我向往，于是我下定決心，一定要好好學(xué)習(xí)新概念英語。這時老師問我們：誰愿意第一個背誦這篇課文?我想舉手又有點不敢，一股躍躍欲試的感覺涌上心頭。先邁出這第一步吧，只要邁出去了，以后的路就都變得平坦了。我在心里暗暗想道。這么想著，我就舉起手來，老師欣喜地看向了我。我將英語課文滾瓜爛熟地背了出來，大部分還是來自上節(jié)課回家后不斷練習(xí)的努力。老師果然表揚了我，這讓我的心里喜滋滋的頓時也不再對自己產(chǎn)生懷疑了，而是更加有勇氣。

They lived in very small houses. No good food to eat, no good water to drink.They had only twenty minutes to stay out side per day but they still said nothing.
