　　這個暑假我跟著爸爸去了不少地方，讓我感受最深的不是美景，而是不會說英語的遺憾。

　　七月份的時候，我跟著爸爸去了北京玩，我們一起看了故宮，還有天安門，非常開心，這時我看見一個外國友人走到我們面前，說了好幾句英語，我一臉迷惑的看著他，不知道他要表達什么，他看我聽不懂，又轉(zhuǎn)身找了一個，原來他是要找人幫忙照相啊。

　　雖然這只是一個小小的插曲，但是我卻在隨后的日子里碰到了好幾個外國友人，可憐我不會英語，那時我就下定決心，好好學(xué)英語。

　　回到家后，我買了一本簡單的問候語，還有日常用語，開始學(xué)了起來，雖然過程是麻煩的，但是我還是堅持了下來，我又買了一本單詞本，每天都背上幾個，慢慢的`我感覺自己的英語水平提高了。

　　八月份的時候，我跟著爸爸去了天津，當(dāng)然我還是碰到了幾個外國友人，這次我主動打了招呼，聊的很開心，外國友人直對我豎大拇指，我開心極了。

　　The Story of Father's Day

　　父親節(jié)的故事

　　Father's Day, contrary to popular misconception, was not established as a holiday in order to help greeting card manufacturers sell more cards. In fact when a "father's day" was first proposed there were no Father's Day cards!

　　和通俗的誤解不同，父親節(jié)不是為了賀卡生產(chǎn)商賣出更多賀卡而設(shè)立的節(jié)日。事實上，當(dāng)父親節(jié)第一次被提出來的時候，就不存在父親節(jié)卡片！

　　Mrs. John B. Dodd, of Washington, first proposed the idea of a "father's day" in 1909. Mrs. Dodd wanted a special day to honor her father, William Smart. William Smart was a Civil War veteran. His wife (Mrs. Dodd's mother) died in childbirth with their sixth child. Mr. Smart was left to raise the newborn and his other five children by himself on a farm. it was after Mrs. Dodd became an adult that she realized the strength and selflessness her father had shown in raising his children as a single parent.

　　1909年，約翰B·多德在華盛頓第一次提出了設(shè)立父親節(jié)的想法。多德夫人想有個特別的日子來表達對她的父親，威廉·斯瑪特的尊敬。威廉·斯瑪特是內(nèi)戰(zhàn)的老兵。他的妻子（多德夫人的母親）在生育他們第6個孩子的時候死了。斯瑪特先生獨自留下來在農(nóng)場謀生，照顧新生兒和他其他5個孩子。直到多德夫人長大了，才意識到他父親作為單親養(yǎng)育孩子是多么的有力和無私。

　　The first Father's Day was observed on June 19, 1910 in Spokane Washington. At about the same time in towns and cities across America other people were beginning to celebrate a "father's day." In 1924 President Calvin Coolidge supported the Johnson signed a presidential proclamation declaring the 3rd Sunday of June as Father's Day.

　　1910年6月19日，第一個父親節(jié)出現(xiàn)在華盛頓，斯波坎市。幾乎同時，全美國的鄉(xiāng)鎮(zhèn)和城市，其他人開始慶祝父親節(jié)。在1924年，卡爾文·柯立芝總統(tǒng)支持約翰遜簽署了一份總統(tǒng)公告，宣布6月的第三個周日是父親節(jié)。
