We can save water in many different ways, but to understand how these ways help save our environment, we must understand that all things can be linked together. For example, by planting trees, we can reduce the amount of soil that enters and pollutes our waterways. You can start saving water by:
Using buckets instead of a hose when watering the garden
Taking a shower instead of a bath, but using water saving shower heads would be even better.
Installing half-flush toilets.
Fixing leaky taps
Placing an object such as a brick in the toilet or adjust the arm on the toilet.
Planting native Australian plants
Resuing greywater (that's what we call the water from the laundry, etc.
These are only some of the endless ways that we can help our environment.
As we know, water is very important to man, we can’t live without water. The amount of water which is suitable to drink is less and less. But some people don’t care about it. They waste a lot of water in their daily life. Even worse, they pour dirty water into rivers. They throw rubbish into rivers, too. Many rivers and lakes are seriously polluted. Something must be done to stop the pollution. And I think it’s a great shame to waste while millions are in great need of water. I think what we can do is that we have to save every drop of water as possible as we can. For example, we must turn off the tap immediately after we use it. We can use a basin to wash our hands and faces. It’s also a good idea to encourage my friends and family members to join me! Only in this way can we live happily. If we don’t save water, the last drop of water will be a tear-drop of us. I believe if everyone makes a little effort, we can make a big difference.
With large amounts of food thrown away each year, the problem of food waste is widespread in China. Last Spring Festival, my father invited several friends to dinner in a restaurant. My father ordered a lot to show respect and display generosity.
What surprised me was he ordered an extra dish before we could finish all! When we stood up to leave, there were many dishes unfinished. Out of embarrassment, my father was reluctant to take the leftovers home. Later, we all shared the opinion that it was a great waste.
Recently, the Clear Your Plate Campaign started nationwide. I firmly believe that if everyone does his bit, the food waste will be significantly reduced.
What is vividly revealed in the picture is that water is being reused in daily life at home. After washing rice, the water can be used to wash vegetables and then clean the mop and the toilet. What a harmonious scene it is!
It is not difficult to find that what the picture intends to express is the importance of saving and protecting resources. On the one hand, as we all know, water resource is limited and water shortage is still a serious problem threatening the existence and survival of the whole human being. On the other hand, the phenomenon of wasting water can still be easily found anywhere in our daily life. For example, water taps are frequently left on by careless users. Someone even assumes that they have the right to waste water because they pay for it o that it has nothing to do with others. In fact, so precious water is that we cannot afford to waste it. Water resource is not only indispensable in our daily life but also in the industry and agriculture. It is hard to imagine what the world would be like when there I is no more water.
It is fortunate that now the public is starting to pay attention. But, this is not adequate. As is shown in the above picture, what we need is more actions to save and protect resources! First of all, social environment is shaped by the general public, and the cultivation of conservation-minded society depends on the active involvement of every member of our society, be he old or young. Accordingly, an education campaign should be launched to call on people from all walks of life to save and protect resources. In addition, saving and protecting resources is bound up with our daily life. We, college students, should spare no efforts to save valuable energy and natural resources such as power, water, coal, gas and so on. Only by the joint efforts of the whole society can we create a real conservation-minded society.
he earth is suffering, and we, the human beings, are suffering with it,too. The rivers on the earth are drying, then we have to turn to the Mars to search for water;trees on the earth are reducing, then we have to use plastics;the oil, coal and gas is getting less an less, then we have to be ready to go backward to the darkness.Everybody hates the pollutions but everybody is making pollutions. If you are responsible person for the world, for the next generation and for yourself, then stop making such mistakes.Let's all together save the environment, save the resources ,save the nature and save the earth as well.Only because that is to save ourselves!Come on,do something with the preservation of the human existence.
Everybody knows that we have only one earth on which we share with different kinds of animals and plants. With the development of the industry,we, the human beings, have produced more and more pollutions whci are harmful to the animals, plants and ourselves as well. The most serious problem that we have to face is that the earth is being destroyed by our so-called civilizations.Sometimes, you may find we are having more and more natural disasters on the earth. That is why some countries, like America, has begun to explore the Mars and the other planets.Remember,to save the earth is to save ourselves.
Energy shortage is a huge problem for morden society, and it has a negtive impact on people's daily life and economic development.
Many elements accounts for energy shortage. Firstly, rapid economic development prompts an increase of energy consumptions in different industries. Secondly, population growth creates greater demands for household energy usage. Thirdly, people have yet to develop the sense of energy conservation.
Actually we can do a lot to save energy in daily life.Turn off lights and fans when nobody is in the room;design buildings with the concept of energy saving;use public transit instead of private cars in rush hours...It is very easy for us to do these things as long as we have the sense of energy conservation, and we should do it right now.
Joozone Editor's Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a composition on the topic Is Thrift Still a Good Virtue? You should write at least 150 words, and base your composition on the outline (given in Chinese) below:
However, still other people insist that thrift is a good virtue. They say that the unprecedented power of production doesn’t mean that we are entitled to a life of extravagance, because our natural resources are limited and some of them even are on the decline. Moreover, they hold that waste may lead to degradation of social atmosphere and environmental pollution as well.
As to me, I prefer the latter opinion. I believe “Waste not, want not.” The truth of this saying is not to give up comfort but to enhance efficiency. In fact, economic growth depends enormously on saving. Besides, there are still millions of Chinese living under poverty line. We can never afford reckless waste. Therefore, [10]it is no doubt that thrift is still a good virtue that we should not give up.
Mayor Bloomberg has been the mayor of New York City for nearly nine years, but for ten years he has been wearing the same shoes. This is really rare to be seen on a billionaire.
“The mayor owns two pairs of work shoes,” said the spokesman. “One day he’ll wear one, the next the other. When they got worn down, he has them repaired. He could buy any shoes he wanted, but he says since they are comfortable, and they work, there’s no need for a new pair.” According to the spokesman, the mayor saves in his footwear and he also keeps it up in his personal as well as governmental finance. “When he buys a cup of coffee, he chooses the smallest size. He buys only what he needs.”
Such is the mayor of New York City, who cares little about his shoes, avoids wasting money and focuses his attention on his work and his people in the city.
But what about our fellow students nowadays? Some wear super expensive clothes and shoes; besides, they buy as many as possible, far more than two pairs. They always want the latest, the newest and throw the old ones away though they haven’t worn them for many times.
The author introduces to us the mayor of New York City, a man who is rich but provident. The author also points out nowadays some students have the habit of wasting things.
When reading the passage, I am deeply moved by the mayor. Rich as he is, he has the virtue of saving. He spends money only on what he needs and never wastes money on what is of no use. I think this is really admirable.
The mayor reminds me of the great political leader of China, Chairman Mao. As the chairman of China, Mao led a very thrifty life. He used to wear old clothes at home. When his clothes were worn out, he would have them repaired and continued to wear them. He always told others that saving was a good virtue of Chinese people.
Thinking about the two great leaders, I feel deeply ashamed. As a young student who still has to depend on my parents, I have been leading too comfortable a life. I buy whatever I like though I don’t really need them. Besides, I like new things; when things get “old”, I tend to begin to dislike them and stop using them. Now that I realize that this is wrong, I’m determined that I shall follow the examples of the two great leaders and start to get rid of the bad habits.
In my point of view, all of us should save water. People can't live without water. But the real situation is thatthe shortage ofwater is becoming a serious problemin many parts ofthe worlddue togrowing population and the pollution of the rivers and lakes.
Todeal withthe water problem, we can do something to avoid wasting water in our life.Firstly, we should remember to reuse water. For example, the water left over after washing vegetables canbe used towater plants or to clean the floor.Secondly, wehad betterlimit our shower time. Also, we cancall onmore people to save waterin different ways.

How many times I have seen a company or organisation habitually waste good food?! Too many times! They are well-meaning people, and they'd like to give away the food instead of wasting it by putting it in the dustbin. They'd maybe like to give the food to the needy or the poor, and there's probably a few beggars just along the road if anyone was kind enough to go along and see if they are hungry. So why don't they do it? Reason: Too many stupid rules!
Just as surely as there's no pig bin anymore for food to be recycled as pork (because of various illconceived ideas about the health of pigs if they eat other people's sunday lunches and leftovers), there's no "well let's give it to the beggars!".Apparently, beggars can in theory take the company to court if they are made ill by the food. Not that they are seriously going to be made ill by perfectly good food, and not that most beggars have the money to start a legal case.

“地球是我們共同的家園,是我們共同的母親,保護(hù)地球是我們的責(zé)任,我們應(yīng)該來保護(hù)我們美麗的家園,不能讓它受到破壞!”這是大家的心聲。
"The earth is our common home and our common mother. It is our responsibility to protect the earth. We should protect our beautiful home and not let it be damaged!" This is everyone's voice.
Now we have many beautiful things: luxurious and vibrant houses, flat and wide roads, green fields and wide gymnasiums. But what's the use of this? People cut down trees again and again, making the beautiful forest bare. It is used to make chopsticks, chairs, tables, pencils, beds Nearby cities may be hit by sandstorms or typhoons. Therefore, we should not cut down trees indiscriminately. Not only nature has been damaged, but also many small animals have lost their warm home. We should take good care of nature and give them a warm home!
I once saw a TV program called "science world", which is about the sea of North America that scientists speculated 500 years later. Because of the change of crustal movement, the land and the land collided with each other, causing the ocean to be blocked and the sea water can't flow. Because of the hot weather, the sea water is easy to evaporate quickly. Soon all the sea water will evaporate and become dry In the dry land, some animals gradually evolved into another shape due to the change of environment, even the character changed. A squirrel with gentle character turned into a squirrel with fierce and cunning character
I have also read a new edition of "one hundred thousand why", which said: "since ancient times, ancient people have been saving wood, even if they cut trees to cook and cook, they will also use trees. They just cut off the top of a tree, so that the trees will not lose their vitality, so that they will continue to grow, so that they will not destroy the nature. But by the early 1990s, 25% of the world's 100% trees had been used in a flash, and 75% were left. Since then, people have been cutting down trees like crazy, making them less and less. The United States and the United Kingdom cut down about 80 mu of trees every day, so before long, all the trees in the world will be cut down! "
Listen to my so many introductions, students! Can't these things give us lessons and Enlightenment? Oh, and uncles and aunts, grandparents, brothers and sisters, brothers and sisters, uncles and uncles all over the world. Do you know how to protect nature? There are more places in nature that we need to protect. Not only does nature need our protection, but also the environment needs our protection! Let's protect nature together!
Many people believe that the world’s supply of fresh water will never be used up. They think that fresh water comes from such a variety of sources that it is always sufficient for use. Such an opinion leads to a shocking waste of water.
As a matter of fact, the earth is short of fresh water. Furthermore, with the rapid growth of the world population, the rising demand for water by industry, and the serious pollution of our surroundings, the world is facing the ganger of running out of fresh water. Actually, in some big cities, fresh water can not meet the daily needs.
Therefore, to find new ways to save water is an urgent task. First, we should pass strict laws to control any waste of water. Second, scientists must work even harder to purify sea water, and try to find substitute to reduce the use of fresh water.
Write an essay of 160—200 words based on the following drawing. In your essay, you should first desCRIbe the drawing, then interpret its meaning, and give your comment on it.
You should write neatly on ANSWER SHEET 2. (20 points)
As is vividly revealed in the drawing above, water is being wisely utilized in the daily life of a family. The good conduct is indeed praiseworthy and should be popularized in our society.
The implied meaning of the drawing can be stated as follows. To begin with, to practise economy is closely related to our daily life. In terms of our clothing, food, sheltering, and transport, much work can be done to save valuable energy and natural resources such as power, water, coal, gas and so on. We, as university students, should take the wise use of paper and second-hand textbooks into consideration. What’s more, the public participation is the foundation of a society in which to practise economy is advocated and treasured. Since social environment is shaped by the general public, the cultivation of economy-practising society depends on the active involvement of every member of our society, be he old or young. In sum, our daily life should be permeated with the sense of practising economy and public participation should be encouraged.
In my view, necessary measures should be taken so as to practise economy. On the one hand, we should launch a public campaign to help people build up the sense of practicing economy in our routine life. On the other hand, education on how to practise economy must be promoted by relevant government departments and professionals at different levels. Only in this way can we create a real economy-practising society.

Bike is a popular means of transportation It is a friendly environment transport tool.I like riding bikes when go tra一velling or go motor cars are increasingly popular but I think it will cause a lot of damage to us First it will give out lots of waste gas, which will contribute to the global warming. It is bad for our earth.Second.the number of the cars is becoming larger and larger and the crowded traffic will certainly bring about the risk of safety. So I think riding a bike is a better choice if we take environment into consideration.

in daily life, and you could see the phenomenon of food waste. perhaps you did not realize they are wasting, and perhaps you think this little bit of nothing to waste, maybe you still think our country with vast land. but the fact is: china's population has more than 1.25 billion, the annual net increase is 12 million; per capita arable land area of ??1.2 acres, is the world's per capita value of 1 / 4; the current arable land at an annual rate of more than 30 million mu of delivery; national 40% of the urban population consumed food imports. from 1981-1995, the national total of 8100 mu of cultivated land decreased, thus reducing the production of 500 billion kilograms of grain. and now to reduce the speed is still accelerating. unauthorized occupation of cultivated land, dredging, land degradation, desertification and other phenomena in the encroached land. absolute reality can not be optimistic! save food, is the obligation of every citizen, not that your life is better, you can afford to waste a waste. waste is a shameful act. as long as there is awareness of conservation, in fact, doing it very simple: how much to eat a meal containing the number, do not throw leftovers; a la carte meal in a restaurant should be moderate, rather than show off, mess stretch. remember: save food from me.
1986 fifth world food survey results: 112 developing countries (excluding china and other socialist countries) in the period 1979-1981 with 3.35-4.49 million people are malnourished. united nations population fund (imf) announced the early 1980s, when world cereal production could feed 6 billion people. but at the same time, the world's population only 45 million or so, but there are 450 million people go hungry. in 1995, world population growth to 57 million hungry population to 10 million. in 1972, for two consecutive years because of global climate anomalies caused by crop failure, coupled with the former soviet union a large number of buying grain, there has been a worldwide food crisis, food and agriculture organization in 1973 and 1974, have held the first and second food conference, in order to arouse the world, especially the third world attention to food and agricultural production problems. however, the problem has not been resolved, but the world food situation is more serious. it was predicted that in the 1980s world food shortages will trend. food and agriculture organization of the general assembly resolution on world food day, is the world's food supply and demand in the context of an increasingly sharp made.
a waste of shame, in a sense is simply "criminal." insist everything, save from the start bit, in particular, need to adhere to. can be one or two days a year, two years? a longer time? not just for food, let the savings into conscious, become a habit. moreover, in the long march, there are many martyrs died because of cold and hunger. therefore, we must save food, or how worthy of those martyrs who we do?
As is known to all, waste has become a more and more serious problem. We can easily see many persons dump a lot of food in the garbage can. Some persons spend thousands of yuan buying fashionable clothes and so on.
The negative effects of waste can be shown in the following aspects. In the first place, it makes some students dependent on their parents for money, which is harmful to their development. If they don’t learn to support themselves, they will be “useless people” when they graduate. In the second place, it is not easy for our parents to arrange for our schooling. Last but not the least important, there is no denying the fact that our country is still poor. There are many people who cannot go to university and many poor people still need our help.
As far as I am concerned, I should set a good example to reduce waste on social. First of all, I will refrain from wasting anything, from food to stationery. What’s more, I’m determined to call on more schoolmates to fight against waste. Only through these measures can we hope to reduce waste.

But,we have to know,in the same time,a large part of it was wasted,it's polluted environment around us. as a student,we should like using the air-conditioner less often, turning off the light upon leaving, reminding family members of the importance of saving electricity and so on.
As a saying puts, " Actions speak louder than words", please join in the action to save electricity, from yourself, from now on. Action!

First,we mustn't turnon more lights than we need .Then,we must turn fans off when we leave a room.Next,we must close the fridge or freezer after we have taken something out.We mustn switch off the lights when students are the last to leave the classroom. After that,we mustn't leave the kettle on unattended. Finally,we must close all the windows when we are using the air conditioner.
If everyone can do these,I think we can save electricity.

Water is very important to us.Without water, people will die.Animals and plant need water, too .
But water is becoming less and less.We must do something to save it.For example, turn off the tap,if you don’t it.After washing vegetables,we can use the water to water the plant. Also, don’t wash your hands for a long time.
Remember not to waster water or pollute it.Save water, save our earth!let’s take action now!
The world is not only hungry, but also thirsty for water. This may seem strange to you, since nearly 75 % of the earth's surface is covered with water. But about 97% of this huge amount is sea water, or salt water. Man can only drink and use the other 3% -- the fresh water that comes from rivers, lakes, underground , and other sources. And we cannot
even use all of that, because some of it is in the form of icebergs and glaciers. Even worse, some of it has been polluted.
However, as things stand today, this small amount of fresh water, which is constantly being replaced by rainfall, is still enough for us. But our need for water is increasing rapidly-- almost day by day. Only if we take steps to deal with this problem now can we avoid a severe worldwide water shortage later on. A limited water supply would have a bad effect on agriculture and industry. Let me give you just one small exampie of how necessary water is to industry. Did you know that to produce a single ton of steel, it takes about 91, 000 liters of water?
We all have to learn how to stop wasting our precious water. One of the first steps we should take is to develop ways of reusing it. Experiments have already been done in this field, but only on a small scale. For us, the systems are as important as the spacecraft.
