　　世上人們各有所愛，有的人喜歡溫柔的貓，有的人喜歡可愛的狗，還有的人喜歡……我當(dāng)然也有自己的愛物，那就是小烏龜。

　　小烏龜來我們家可有很長的時間了，是在我小時候媽媽買的，那時只有手掌那么大，現(xiàn)在長了不少，像碗口一樣。我們倆朝夕相處已經(jīng)四，五年，我非常喜歡它。

　　小烏龜通身翠綠，像用玉雕出來的一樣，極其精致。頭的兩邊長著一對黑豆般的小眼睛，亮晶晶很有神。在它的眼睛后面，長著一對不容易看出來的小耳朵。下面是一張三角形的嘴。小烏龜有尖尖的小尾巴，強(qiáng)壯的四只腳，腳上還長有趾甲，趾間有蹼，劃水時可幫上大忙了。它的殼分成一些多邊形塊，每個小塊上都有花紋，放到一起組成了美麗的大花紋，非常堅固。最有特點的是它肚子底下也有花紋，并且是“回”字形的。看上去就像古代時的'盾牌，十分別致。

　　平時，小烏龜經(jīng)常在水底趴著休息，一副懶散的樣子。可是要是有一點動靜，它就會驚慌失措地將頭，四肢和尾巴一起縮進(jìn)殼內(nèi)，從上面看就像一個小足球。我拿龜食來喂它時，它也會活動起來。龜食還沒入水，它就迫不及待了，頭伸出好遠(yuǎn)，游來游去，當(dāng)龜食沉入水里，小烏龜就用前腳扒拉一陣，再聞一會兒香味，然后大口大口地嚼起來。吃完飯了，它就開始玩耍，一會兒在水中激起幾朵水花，一會兒鉆到水底的沙子中去捉迷藏。

　　小烏龜特別將衛(wèi)生。一天，我因為著急上學(xué)，忘了給它換水，回家后急急忙忙沖到魚缸前，只看見小烏龜在把臟物聚在一起。我樂了，輕輕碰碰它，它歪著頭看著我，好像在說：“我正在打掃衛(wèi)生，你來干什么呢？”真的好有趣啊。

　　我非常喜歡我可愛好玩的小烏龜，我們在一起度過了很多美好快樂的時光。

　　there is only so much land on the earth, and so what we can do with it is limited. some people believe that human needs for farmland, housing and industry should come first, while others believe that some land should be set aside for endangered animals. i am of the opinion that we should reserve some land for the worlds animals for the following reasons.

　　first, mankinds need for land is constantly growing. if the demand is not checked in some way, humans will eventually develop all of the earths available land. at that time, mankind will have no more room to grow, and all the wild animals will have disappeared, as well as other valuable resources. second, humans are able to innovate and can use the land that they already possess in more efficient ways. animals are unable to do this. once their land is taken away from them they will die. third and last, endangered animals are an important part of the biodiversity of our planet. if they disappear, we cannot predict what the effect will be. therefore, we should treat such animals as a valuable resource to be protected.

　　to sum up, the worlds endangered animals are an important resource and we should protect them by setting aside some land for them. although mankinds need for land continues to grow, people are intelligent and inventive enough to put the land they have to better use. in this way, we can have enough land for farming, housing and industry, and preserve the biodiversity of the planet at the same time.
