相似詞語cross與across辨析

　　across，cross

　　這兩個(gè)詞都是表示“橫越”、“渡過”之意，在拼寫上僅差一字之微，故很易混淆，『相似詞語辨析【3】across和cross』。它們的區(qū)別在于詞性和使用場合有所不同。across是介詞；cross是動(dòng)詞。

　　coss除作動(dòng)詞外，亦可作名詞。作名詞時(shí)，有較強(qiáng)的構(gòu)詞能力，它所構(gòu)成的詞的'某些詞義和用法是值得注意的。例如crossroad是“交叉路”或“橫馬路”，而crossroads卻是“十字路”或“十字路口”，它的前面可以用a，但-s不能丟掉。如：

　　cross-reference是“前后參照”、“互見條目”的意思，專指同一書刊中前后互相參閱的說明。例：

　　In this book cross-references are shown in capital letters．

　　在本書中，前后參照的互見條目用大寫字母表示。

　　crossing是“渡口”、“橫道線”或“（鐵路與公路的）交叉點(diǎn)”。如：

　　The Star Ferry Pier is a ferry crossing in central．

　　天星碼頭是在中環(huán)的一個(gè)渡口。
