圣誕節(jié)的起源
據(jù)說耶穌是因著圣靈成孕，由童女馬利亞所生的。神更派遣使者加伯列在夢中曉諭約瑟，叫他不要因?yàn)轳R利亞未婚懷孕而不要她，反而要與她成親，把那孩子起名為“耶穌”，意思是要他把百姓從罪惡中救出來。
當(dāng)馬利亞快要臨盆的時候，羅馬政府下了命令，全部人民到伯利恒務(wù)必申報戶籍。約瑟和馬利亞只好遵命。他們到達(dá)伯利恒時，天色已昏，無奈兩人未能找到旅館渡宿，只有一個馬棚可以暫住。就在這時，耶穌要出生了。于是馬利亞唯有在馬槽上，生下耶穌。后人為紀(jì)念耶穌的誕生，便定十二月二十五為圣誕節(jié)，年年望彌撒，紀(jì)念耶穌的出世。
圣誕樹
圣誕裝飾包括以圣誕裝飾和圣誕燈裝飾的圣誕樹，戶內(nèi)以花環(huán)和常綠植物加以裝飾，特別的冬青和槲寄生是傳統(tǒng)采用的材料。在南北美洲和少數(shù)歐洲地區(qū)，傳統(tǒng)上戶外以燈光裝飾，包括用燈火裝飾的雪橇、雪人和其他圣誕形象。冬青和槲寄生是傳統(tǒng)采用的材料。市政當(dāng)局也會對圣誕裝飾加以支持，在街道懸掛圣誕標(biāo)語或者是在廣場放置圣誕樹。
圣誕樹(christmatree)是圣誕節(jié)慶祝中最有名的傳統(tǒng)之一。
圣誕前后把一棵常綠植物如松樹弄進(jìn)屋里或者在戶外，并用圣誕燈和彩色的裝飾物裝飾。并把一個天使或星星放在樹的頂上。
用燈燭和裝飾品把樅樹或洋松裝點(diǎn)起來的常青樹，作為圣誕節(jié)慶�；顒拥囊徊糠�。近代圣誕樹起源于德國。德國人于每年12月24日，即亞當(dāng)和夏娃節(jié)，在家里布置一株樅樹(伊甸園之樹)，將薄餅乾掛在上面，象徵圣餅(基督徒贖罪的標(biāo)記)。近代改用各式小甜餅代替圣餅，還常加上象徵基督的蠟燭。此外，室內(nèi)還設(shè)有圣誕塔，是一木質(zhì)的三角形結(jié)構(gòu)，上有許多小架格放置基督雕像，塔身飾以常青樹枝葉、蠟燭和一顆星。到16世紀(jì)，圣誕塔和伊甸園樹合并為圣誕樹。
圣誕節(jié)櫥窗
圣誕櫥窗也是墨爾本一道靚麗的風(fēng)景線，每年的圣誕節(jié)來臨前商店的櫥窗設(shè)計人員就會動足腦筋，將這個圣誕節(jié)的主題發(fā)揮得淋漓盡致，而且絕不會和往年的風(fēng)格重合，這里也是媽媽最愿意帶孩子們來的地方。圣誕爺爺醇厚的嗓音講述著驚心動魄的經(jīng)歷，故事還是那個故事，但聲、光、電的組合更生動有趣。排隊入場是瑪雅櫥窗參觀中不成文的規(guī)定，欄桿外是急匆匆路過的人流，欄桿內(nèi)有序參觀，每個櫥窗有數(shù)分鐘的演繹。每個櫥窗左下角是滾動的屏幕，立體聲喇叭中講述的故事，都能在這里顯示，掃描一下二維碼還能下載。

A boy begs his father to get him a Christmas tree this year.
一個孩子求他爸爸，說能不能今年為家里準(zhǔn)備一棵圣誕樹
Each year, the boy asks and the father tells him, "I don't want to pay for it."

But the son kept begging. Unable to bear his son's whining, he picks up his axe one day and heads out of the house.
