教材分析
藝術與文學是語言學習的一種最高的境界。對于藝術與文學的奧秘,針對高一的學生來說,只能略窺幽癮, 作些提示。本單元的中心話題就是“藝術”與“文學”,具體涉及繪畫、電影、戲劇、音樂會、小說等內容,語言知識教學和語言技能訓練都是圍繞這些話題展開的。通過閱讀《哈利波特》和“魔術”的簡介一文,引導學生了解本世紀初風靡全球的小說電影“哈利波特”使學生了解到英國作家羅琳充滿神奇的摩法世界和系列小說《哈利波特》的內容以及主人公哈利波特的生活、學習,性格與信念。

模塊一:中外名曲導入
Play two pieces of famous Chinese and foreign music and let the students to tell the names of the music and writers of the two compositions. The teacher leads in the topic Art and Literature while the students enjoy the art of music such as “Symphonic Music” written by Beethven and “Liang Shanpbo and Zhu yingtai” written by Chen Zhangang.
模塊二:世界名畫導入
Show the students four world famous paintings and let them guess the names of the works and their painters. Now the teacher can tell them that these paintings are also a kind of art, then lead in the topic “Art and Literature”.

1.It is a world of magic and wonders, a world where anything can happen.
這是一個充滿魔術和奇觀的世界,這個世界任何事情都可能發(fā)生.
a world of 一個……的世界;許多.如:This is a world of competition 這是一個充滿競爭的世界.
There’s a world of difference between promise and achievement.在承諾和履行諾言之間往往相差甚遠,句中第二個a world是同位語,可用代詞one代替.又如:He is a simple man, a man(=one)who always cares for others.他是一個樸素的人,一個總是關心別人的人。
2.His parents are dead and he lives with a family that treats him badly.
他的父母雙亡,他和一個虐待他的家庭生活.
Treat sb. well/badly對某人態(tài)度不好/不好.如:Many blacks are treated well in America現(xiàn)在在美國許多黑人都有很好的待遇.
treat…as …把……當……對待.如:She treats me as her own daughter. 她把我當親生女兒看待. Treat sb. to sth.用某物款待某人.如:I’ll treat you to some good wine.我會用好酒招待你.
3.He makes new friends and learns how important and difficult it is to be a good friend.
他結交新朋友,而且知道作為一個好朋友是多么重要和多么不容易.
Make friends with sb.與某人交上朋友(=make a friend of sb.).如:I never make friends with those who are greedy.我從不和那些貪婪的人交友.be friend with 是……的朋友(=be a friend of sb.).如:I have been friends with him for ages.我跟他是多年的朋友。Make enemies with sb.與某人樹敵。如:Soon he made lots of enemies.很快他有了許多敵人。
4.His friends help him when he is in trouble, but he must also be strong and help them when they need him.
他有困難時朋友會幫他,而他也必須堅強,在朋友需要時也能幫助他們。
Be in trouble 在困境中。如:Please turn to me whenever you’re in trouble. 有麻煩時請找我。Get into trouble .陷入困境; get sb. into trouble 使某人陷入困境。如:He got himself into trouble by saying nasty words.他由于講臟話而惹上麻煩。Be out of trouble/get out of trouble擺脫困境。
5.harry also learns to be brave and to do things he used to be afraid of.
哈利也要學會勇敢,做以前害怕做的事。
1)(that)he used to be afraid of 作定語從句,修飾先行詞things.
2)Used to+動原意“過去經!薄H纾篐e used to be late, didn’t/usedn’t he? 他過去經常遲到,不是嗎?
There used to be a tall tree here.過去這有棵大樹(現(xiàn)在不存在了)。
3)be afraid of (doing) sth.害怕做某事(強調結果)。Be afraid to do sth.害怕去干某事(強調過程)。如:he is afraid to speak English in public, because he is afraid of being laughed at.他不敢在公共場合講英語,因為擔心被人嘲笑。
6.He learns the truth about his past, a dark secret that will make his life and his choices more difficult.
他了解到自己過去的一些真相,一個嚴守著秘密,他的生活和他的選擇也因此會變得艱難。
1)句中a dark secret (= a secret that is closely guarded )意指上句中的the truth ,作同位語,其后接由引導的定語從句。That 在從句中作主語,故不能省略。
2)learn about 了解到 ( = know about ).如:I have learned a lot about his college life.我了解到他大學生活的很多方面。
3)make + 賓 +形容詞意為“使得……”如:What he said made all of us disappointed.他的話使我們大家都失望。Be made +形容詞意為“被弄得……”。如:The floor was soon made dirty after the children returned from school.在孩子們放學回家后地板很快就弄臟了。
7.--- the adventures Harry comes across --- help him understand the real world.哈利遇上的那些冒險活動幫助他明白這個真正的世界。
1)句中包含一個定語從句。(that) Harry comes across, 修飾先行詞 adventures.
2)Come across 偶然發(fā)現(xiàn)或遇見(see sb. / sth. By chance).如:Don’t stop to refer to your dictionary whenever you come across a new word.不要一看見生詞就翻字典。
Come across 原意為“走過”。如:Come across to my office this afternoon.今天下午到我辦公室來。
8.Harry has to fight against bad wizards and do the right things.
哈利不得不和壞巫婆作斗爭,伸張正義。
Fight against 與……對抗。如: The whole nation are uniting to fight against SARS全民族團結一心,共同對抗非典型肺炎。Against 有“與……相對/相反;防備”之意,故經常有下列表達:be against one’s opinion 反對某人意見;go against nature 違抗自然;vote against 投票反對;against the sky在天空映襯下; sit against the wall 靠墻坐著;save against a rainy day未雨綢繆; compete against與人競爭;defend sb. against …保衛(wèi)某人不受……侵犯。
9.You must believe in what you do and who you are… 你必須相信自己做的事和自己身份……believe in 信賴;信任。它表示對人或物各方面的信任(have a trust in sb. /sth),而believe只表示相信某人的話或一些表面的東西。如:I believe him ,but I don’t believe in him.我相信他的話,但我并不信任他. You must believe in yourself.你一定要自信。
10.Where someone is born and what a person looks like is not as important as what he or she grows up to be.
一個人的出生地和他/她的相貌并不和他/他長大后干什么一樣重要。
該句是一個比較復雜的復合句。Where someone is born and what a person looks like是主句中兩個并列的主語從句,what he or she grows up to be.是比較狀語從句中的主語從句,省略了謂語is important. Be not as…as…=be not so…as… 不和……一樣……
11.“Did you hear that?” she whispered
“你剛才聽到那個了嗎?”她小聲問。
whisper低語;whisper sth . to sb.耳語。對某人低聲說出某事。
如: The news was soon whispered to our village.消息很快傳到我們村。
12.It sounded like a woman crying.
聽起來像是一個女人在哭。
sound like聽起來像,后接名詞、代詞或動名詞,如:When the earthquake happens, It sounds like a train going under the ground.地震發(fā)生時,好像是有火車在地下經過。
Sound as if 聽起來似乎。后接句子,有時用虛擬語氣,如:His voice sounds as if he were a foreigner.他的聲音聽起來是外國人的。其他類似:look like/as if 看起來像。Smell like /as聞起來像,taste like/ as if 嘗起來像。
13.If only they could find a way to get the room, or whatever it was, behind the wall.
要是他們能找到通往那個房間的路那該多好,或無論是什么地方,只要在墻后面就行。
If only… 要是……多好,該結構使用虛擬語氣,與I wish 用法同。如:If only I were you! 要是我是你多好!If only I had followed your advice! 要是我早聽了你的話多好!if only I would go to college tomorrow!要是我明天能上大學多好!
比較:only if 只有在……條件下,
如: You will succeed only if you study hard.只要努力你會成功的。
14.He was just about to say something when Helen turned around.他正要開口說話,就在那時海倫轉過身來。
Be about to …when…正要……突然……
When 用做連詞,連接兩個并列句,相當于and then / and at that time .
如:We were about to start off when it rained hard.我們正要出發(fā),天突然下起大雨。
