        act /action

        (1) 當(dāng)action 作可數(shù)名詞時(shí),常與act 同義。a kind act/ action 仁慈的行為

        (2) 但act 多指具體的,短時(shí)的的行為或行動(dòng);action多指復(fù)雜的,持續(xù)的行為或行動(dòng)。

        (3) 在某些固定詞組中,如an act of cruelty (殘忍的行為),an act or war (戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)行為),an act of mercy(仁慈的行為)等中,不能用action. 又如:take action (采取措施) 也是固定搭配。

        to…degree 達(dá)到……程度

        as 用法

        (1) 像……一樣He doesn't like skating as much as he used to.他不像以前那么喜歡滑冰了。

        (2) 照……方式I have told the story just as it happened.我已如實(shí)講了這件事。

        (3) 因?yàn),既?As you object, I’ll reconsider the plan. 既然你反對(duì),我就重新考慮一下這個(gè)計(jì)劃。

        whoever/ no matter who

        (1) whoever 既可引導(dǎo)名詞性從句,又可引導(dǎo)讓步狀語(yǔ)從句。

        Give the book to whoever (=anyone who) would like to read it.(whoever在從句中作主語(yǔ))

        Give the book to whomever (=anyone whom) you like. (whomever 在從句中作賓語(yǔ))

        Whoever comes to the meeting will be welcome. =Anyone who comes to the meeting will be welcome.

        Whoever comes to the meeting, he will be welcome. =No matter who comes to the meeting, he will be welcome.

        (2). no matter who 只能引導(dǎo)狀語(yǔ)從句。No matter who you are, you can't go without permission.

        considerate adj.體貼的 (of, to, toward )+ n.

        astonish (1) vt. 使驚訝,使驚愕常用于被動(dòng)語(yǔ)態(tài),不用于進(jìn)行時(shí)

        (2) vi. 被…驚訝I(yíng) was astonished at/to hear the loud sound.

        may/must+can’t+have+done 表示對(duì)過(guò)去發(fā)生的事情的推測(cè)

        innocent (1) adj. 無(wú)罪的,清白的

        (2) adj. 無(wú)邪的,天真爛漫的as innocent as baby 像嬰兒般天真

        (3) n. innocence 無(wú)辜 His friends proved his innocence.

        .desperate (1)adj. (for+n.) 對(duì)…渴望 ,(to do)要做…(不置于名詞前)

        adj.不顧一切的,亡命的He was desperate for fame. 他極度渴望成名。

        have no choice but…除…之外別無(wú)選擇

        but是個(gè)介詞,作“除了”解, 后面跟動(dòng)詞的不定式。

        The child ran to his mother to be comforted.那個(gè)孩子跑到母親身邊以求得到安慰。

        comfortable adj. 適合的,令人安逸的,舒適的a comfortable bed 舒適的床

        The patient was comfortable after his operation.病人手術(shù)后非常安逸。

        curse vt.(1)詛咒

        The witchdoctor cursed him,his son and his grandson.巫師詛咒他、他兒子和他孫子。

        (2)be cursed with 因……而遭殃,因……而受苦

        She was cursed with stammer all her life.她一生受口吃之苦。
