2. 過去完成時(shí)用法:
(1) 構(gòu)成:由“助動(dòng)詞 had (用于各種人稱和數(shù)) + 過去分詞”構(gòu)成否定式:
had not + 過去分詞 縮寫形式:hadn’t
(2) 用法:過去完成時(shí)表示在過去某一時(shí)間或動(dòng)作之前已經(jīng)發(fā)生或完成了的動(dòng)作。
(3) 它所表示動(dòng)作發(fā)生的時(shí)間是“過去的過去”。
① 表示過去某一時(shí)間可用 by, before 等構(gòu)成的短語來表示。
② 也可以用 when, before 等引導(dǎo)的時(shí)間狀語從句來表示。
③ 還可以通過狀語從句或通過上下文暗示。
例如:
When I got there, you had already eaten your meal.
當(dāng)我到達(dá)那里時(shí),你已經(jīng)開始吃了。
By the time he got here, the bus had left.
在他到達(dá)那里之前,汽車已經(jīng)離開了。

1. Listen to the tape for the first time and finish 2a.
Listen to Mary continue her story. Number the pictures [1-4] in the correct order.

by the time 在……以前,常引導(dǎo)表示過去的時(shí)間狀語從句,主句常用過去完成
時(shí),即 had+動(dòng)詞過去分詞
e.g. By the time I got there, he had already left.

e.g. Henry rushed out the room and disappeared in the rain.
