STEP 1 Talking about your life
T: We know there have been great changes in Starlight Town over the years from the diary. Have there been changes in your life? Now you are in junior high school .You can go to school by bus or by bike. How did you go to school when you were in primary school?
S1: My father took me to school every day.
S2: My mother took me to school every day. Sometimes my grandfather took me to school.
Use the following questions.
(How do you …/How did you…/What do you…?).
STEP 2 Presentation
Ask some students where they were born. And ask the students who were born in other places where they were. They may give many other places. And what feeling do they have when they come back to their hometown. Some students will say there are many changes in their hometowns. Then the teacher tells them they are very surprised at the changes.
STEP 3 Listen to the tape
Explain that Millie and Sandy are talking about the changes in their life. Listen to the tape and try to answer the questions.
Ask the following questions.
1) How did Millie go to school when she was in primary school?
2) How does Millie go to school now?
With the help of these questions, it will be easier for students to focus on the key information. They will also help them to organize their own dialogue.
STEP 3 Read and act
Get the students to read the dialogue on Page19 aloud. Pay special attention to the changes in their life. Then give the students several minutes for them to practice and act. Encourage them to remember the dialogue.
Then let the students make a similar conversation in pairs. Work in pairs and find out about the changes in your partner’s life.
STEP 4 Using a dictionary
When we do some reading, we often meet many new words. Ask the students what they will do when they meet new words. And tell them to look them up in an English dictionary is the best way to solve the questions. But how do you look up a new word in an English dictionary? Tell them how to use an English dictionary.
First show a dictionary to the students, and tell the students the English words in a dictionary are in alphabetical order from ‘A’ to ‘Z’. That is to say, the words which begin with ‘A’ are at the very beginning of a dictionary. And the words which begin with ‘B’ come after the words begin with ‘A’ and so on. If two words start with the same letter, we look at the second letter to decide the alphabetical order. If the first two letters of two words are the same, we look at the third, and so on.

STEP 2 Presentation
Show two pictures of changes to Moonlight Town. Let’s go through Part A1 and get the students to talk about them.

Amy wants to write an article about the changes. Let’s go through the table in Part A2.
In this way, the students can get some idea about what Amy saw, what she heard and how she felt. Get the students to read the phrases one by one.
STEP 4 Completing the sample article
Give the students 4-5 minutes to complete the sample article on Page 22, Part A3. And then check the answers to it. Get the students to figure out the structure of the article.
Ask them to work in pairs to find out the main idea of each paragraph.
STEP 5 Work out the structure
Analysis the structure of the passage and work out the structure about how to write a report about the changes.
STEP 6 Discuss what to write
Go through the sentences listed on Page 22, Part B and make sure that the students can get more ideas about what to write about here.
STEP 7 Writing
Give the students 3-4 minutes for them to decide which changes to write about. Walk around to help the students to organize their ideas and get more ideas. Tell the students to write about their own experience because this may give their article power.
STEP 8 Language points
Go through the article and help the students to locate some important sentence patterns. Explain some important language points.

Step 1 Revision

2.Revise the changing rules of
verbs’ past participle.
Step 2 Presentation
One day a tourist got lost in Sunshine Town because things have changed a lot over the years. When he asked the way, could Millie help him? Now please read the conversation on Page 23,Part A.
Step 3 Part A
Ask the students to read the conversation between Millie and the tourist in the textbook and fill in the blanks. Pay attention to the correct forms of the verbs. Then check the students’ answers.
Step 4 Practice
Ask the students to read the dialogue in pairs. Ask the questions:
1. Where is the railway station in the past?
2. How is the new park?
3. Does Millie show the tourist the way to the railway station?
Then Get the students to act the dialogue out. One is the tourist, the other is Millie.
Step 5 Complete the following dialogue
A: Excuse me, could you _______(tell) me the way to the post office? I ______(lose) the way. I want ________(post) the letter. The post office ________(be)here in the past. But now I’m afraid it ________(move).

現(xiàn)在完成時(shí)結(jié)構(gòu):助動詞 have / has + 動詞的過去分詞 ( Past Participle )
用法1 指的是動作發(fā)生在過去某一時(shí)刻并已結(jié)束,但該動作對現(xiàn)在產(chǎn)生了影響,與現(xiàn)在情況具有因果關(guān)系。
用法2 指的是動作開始于過去某一時(shí)刻,一直延續(xù)到現(xiàn)在,或可能還要繼續(xù)下去。
現(xiàn)在完成時(shí)常見兩種句型:
① 主語+have / has been+for 短語/ since 短語
② It is+一段時(shí)間+ since 從句
