more than本意為“多于,超過”,可引申為“不僅僅;遠(yuǎn)不止;極其”。如:
They were more than willing to help.
他們非常愿意幫忙。
She was more than frightened at the sight.
看到這情景,她簡(jiǎn)直嚇壞了。
動(dòng)詞不定式短語(yǔ)to send e-mail...是跟在they are being used后面的。也就是說,這個(gè)句子應(yīng)該是:They are being used to send e-mail or surf the Internet.
2. The latest cellphones have features such as games, music and an electronic calendar that will remind you about appointments and important dates.(Reading)
remind 作 “使……想起”解時(shí),后可接of引起的短語(yǔ)或從句。如:
The story you have just told reminds me of an experience I once had.
你剛才講的那個(gè)故事使我想起了我的一次經(jīng)歷。
That reminds me that I must write to him.
那使我想起來(lái)我該給他寫信了。
remind 作 “提醒”解時(shí), 后可接帶不定式的復(fù)合結(jié)構(gòu), 也可接of或about引起的短語(yǔ), 還可接從句。如:
Remind him to close the windows when he leaves.
提醒他在離開時(shí)把窗子一一關(guān)上。
She asked me over the telephone to remind you about the party.
她打電話來(lái)要我提醒你不要忘了赴宴。
3. They are being used everywhere - sometimes where they shouldn’t.

句中are being used為現(xiàn)在進(jìn)行時(shí)的被動(dòng)語(yǔ)態(tài);where引導(dǎo)的是一個(gè)地點(diǎn)狀語(yǔ)從句,表示“在……的地方”;shouldn’t 的后面省略了be used, 以避免重復(fù)。如:
Put things where you can easily find them.
把東西放在你容易找到的地方。
These words were said where they shouldn’t.
這些話說在了不該說的地方。
