一. 說教材(Textbook)
在人教版高一英語的下冊的Unit 19,曾經(jīng)談?wù)撨^一些關(guān)于農(nóng)業(yè)的話題,學生對中國早期的出名的農(nóng)業(yè)家賈思勰有了一定的了解。人教版高三英語的Unit 4這個單元以Green World 為話題,讓學生初步了解一些植物學方面的內(nèi)容,如植物的分類、栽培以及植物學的發(fā)展的歷程等等;語言技能和很多的語言點幾乎都是圍繞介紹綠色世界這一中心話題而展開的。要求學生能夠運用所學的內(nèi)容對相關(guān)話題進行流利的表述。
在READING部分,介紹了植物學正式成為一門科學的歷史形成過程。重點介紹了兩個為植物學發(fā)展做出過卓越貢獻的重要人物林厄尼斯與班克斯。他們以獨特的歸類的方式對植物進行分類,從而征服了整個世界。
在POST-READING 部分,針對READING部分的相關(guān)內(nèi)容設(shè)計了5個練習。第1個練習以選擇填空的形式考查學生對課文細節(jié)內(nèi)容的了解。第2-5小題以問句的形式進一步考查學生對課文重點內(nèi)容的了解。
二.說教學目標(Teaching goals)
1.讓學生了解植物這一學科的形成,并了解一個學科的形成需要經(jīng)過漫長的時間及幾代的科學家的努力和奮斗。
2.使學生了解科學家為科學事業(yè)所作的努力及其奮斗精神。
3.培養(yǎng)學生查找細節(jié),分析主題從而提高學生的閱讀理解能力。
4.學習一些有用的詞匯和短語。
5.加深對閱讀技巧(Scanning and skimming method)的理解及運用。

四.說教學方法和學法指導Teaching methods and study guide
在本單元的Reading當中,文章比較長,有很多有的新單詞,個別的句子非常難理解,學生在閱讀當中一定會遇到一定的困難。因此,我采用了一些靈活的實用的教學方法(如Scanning and skimming method和Task-based method),幫助學生理解文章的內(nèi)容,努力提高閱讀課的教學效果。具體做法如下:
1. 解讀標題 The Birth of a Science. 這能幫助學生快速了解文章的內(nèi)容。對提高閱讀效果有很大的幫助。 老師可向?qū)W生設(shè)問:What is Botany?讓學生思考并回答。
2. 通讀課文,了解細節(jié)。老師可向?qū)W生提出問題:How many people are mentioned in the passage? 讓學生快速閱讀并尋找此問題的答案。
3. 深層了解,歸納課文大意。What is the main idea of the passage? 讓學生歸納文章的大意,從而幫助學生理解整篇文章的內(nèi)容。
4. 升華主題。What can we learn from the passage? 讓學生能聯(lián)系實際,學有所獲。
5. 讓學生進行分組(Pair work/ Group work)的討論(Discussion),加深學生對課文的理解,進一步調(diào)動學生學習的積極性。

Key: three goals: the first goal was to observe the planet Venus when it passed across the sun. This would get the astronomers to have a chance to work out the distance between the earth and the sun.
